Sunday, January 3, 2010 13:07- Engine 252, Tanker 253, and Medic 258 responded to the 200 block of Side Trail for a reported structure fire. Upon arrival, units found a mobile home and nearby passenger car fully involved. A defensive attack was made from firefighters on-scene to knock the fire down quickly. Adwolfe Fire also responded to assist with man power and water supply. Exposures were protected due to the close proximity of neighboring mobile homes, but one sustained thermal damage due to the intensity of the fire. Other hazards that presented crews operating on-scene were deep seated fire beneath the floor of the mobile home, the intense cold weather, and ice due to the water freezing on-scene. Smyth County Sheriff's Dept., Chilhowie PD, and VDOT also assisted. The call was cleared at 15:00.
